To stay protected against COVID-19, it’s important to keep your vaccines up to date. This means getting the latest COVID-19 vaccine when you are eligible. Everyone age 6 months or older can get the COVID-19 vaccine. 

Updated Vaccines

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the updated 2024-2025 Moderna, Pfizer, and Novavax COVID-19 vaccines in late August 2024. These vaccines target currently circulating variants, providing improved protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death. The updated Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are available for people age 6 months or older, while the Novavax vaccine is only for people age 12 or older.

  • Where to get vaccinated: You can get COVID-19 vaccines at your usual healthcare locations such as doctors’ offices, pharmacies, and community clinics. Ask your healthcare professional or pharmacy if they offer the COVID-19 vaccine. 
  • Find a vaccine near you: To find COVID-19 vaccines based on your location and vaccine type, visit Vaccines.gov. 
  • At-home vaccination: If you can’t leave your home, consider asking for an at-home vaccination.

Community Clinics

The Office of Immunization offers free flu vaccinations at school and community clinics throughout the state to people age 3 or older. Most evening school clinics are open to the public. Enhanced vaccines for people age 65 or older are available based on supply. To see the latest clinic listings and to register for flu vaccines (age 3+) or COVID-19 vaccines (age 5+), visit schoolflu.com.

If you’ve already registered for a flu vaccine and want to add a COVID-19 vaccine, complete the online COVID-19 vaccine consent form. You must pre-register to guarantee an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted on a limited basis.

Vaccine Record Lookup

You can no longer get your COVID-19 vaccine record on the 401Health app or on portal.ri.gov

You can no longer access your COVID-19 vaccine record through the 401Health app or portal.ri.gov. To find your vaccine record, check the patient portal of your primary care office or the pharmacy that administered your vaccine. If you don’t have access to a patient portal, contact those places to request a copy of your COVID-19 vaccine record. 

The Rhode Island Department of Health does not provide vaccine records directly to individuals. We only release records to healthcare professionals, childcare facilities, schools, colleges, and employee health offices. 

Information for Those Unable to Leave Their Home for Vaccination

If you can’t leave your home, you may still be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine in one of these ways: 

  • Home Health Providers: Contact your home health provider to see if they offer the vaccine. 
  • Alert Ambulance: They provide at-home vaccinations throughout Rhode Island. To request an at-home vaccination, email [email protected] or call 508-944-7722. 
  • Bristol EMS: Bristol residents can request at-home vaccination at 401-253-6912. 
  • Cumberland EMS: Cumberland residents can request at-home vaccination at 401-334-3090, extension 3. 

Transportation to Vaccination Appointments

You can use public transportation to get to many vaccination sites across the state. To view routes and walking distances, use RIPTA’s Trip Planner at www.ripta.com. If you need help, call RIPTA’s Customer Service team at 401-781-9400. 

Anyone enrolled in Medicaid or older than age 60 can use the Non-Emergency Medical Transport Service provided by MTM. Book transportation online at www.mtm-inc.net/mtm-link or call 855-330-9131 (TTY: 711) at least two business days before your appointment. 

Requesting a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

Community partners interested in hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic can contact the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) Office of Immunization at [email protected]. RIDOH will send you a list of mass immunizers that can help you host a vaccination clinic, similar to our support for flu vaccination clinics.
