Agency Announcements

All people ages 6 months and older are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have authorized and recommended Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months up to 6 years and Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months up to 5 years. We expect these vaccines will be available in Rhode Island the week of June 27. Please speak with your healthcare provider about whether they are providing COVID-19 vaccines for these age groups. You can also find a clinic near you at Vaccines.Gov. For more information about COVID-19 vaccines, please visit C19VaccineRI.org.

CDC Recommends Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccines for Children and Adolescents Age 6 through 17

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have authorized and recommended Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines for children and adolescents age 6 years through 17 years. Rhode Island has ordered these vaccines and expects them to be available at provider offices in the coming weeks.
